This is an old South Carolina Proverb said to slaves? What does it means fox's always want to know what rabbit doing means?
I'm taking it that the ';fox'; is the Slave Master, and the ';rabbit'; is the Slave. It is the Master saying to the slave that he (or she) always wants to know the Slave's business; that they have no legal rights under the law, and can be bought (and disposed of) as the Slave Master sees fit.
