To start you need bedding. Aspen shavings work best, and as said above, never go for cedar shavings, they can harm your rabbit.

Your rabbit should basically have a small supply of timothy hay all day, along with water. (If the water isn't in a bottle, then make sure the bowl is heavy enough so that the rabbit won't tip it over). I wouldn't suggest any type of gourmet rabbit food, because some bunnies may just pick out all of the tasty stuff, and leave all the healthy stuff. Just get a basic rabbit pellet feed, and depending on the age of the bunny, you will need lots of veggies. You can search it up on the internet a bit so you know exactly how much you need for the age of your new pet.

(Feed him once in the morning, once in the evening, hay is all day)

Next, you will probably have to litter train the rabbit yourself, but make sure it is big enough for the little guy to sit and move around a little in, and maybe put some timothy hay in there too. Some rabbits like to snack while they are in there!

Make sure the cage is not like in the middle of a room. The rabbit will feel safer if at least one side of the cage is against a wall, and along with that don't forget a little house or something for him to sleep and hide in!

If you like, you can get a salt or a mineral lick too. They aren't absolutely necessary, but they don't hurt either. Lastly, you'll need some toys to keep this rabbit entertained! Things like toilet paper rolls, (emptied) or others that you can make at home work well.

Don't forget to do a little research on your own too! Good luck with you bunny! What do i need to take care of a rabbit?
First, you need a water bottle, one of the ones taht hooks on to the side of the cage. You don't need the biggest one, depending on what kind of rabbit you are planning to get.

As for food, I use Gourmet nutritionally fortified rabbit food, by Animal Planet.

Also, you should get Timothy Hay. This should nto be fed as a main meal for rabbits, but it is good for their digestive system.

As for bedding , STAY AWAY FROM CEDAR BEDDING. IT IS BAD FOR RABBITS EYES AND DIGESTIVE SYSTEM. I use CareFresh pet bedding. It controls odor, is confortable for the rabbit, and prevent sicknesses.

Litter boxes can be used if you have a really large cage, but if you don;t you won't have to use one. Rabbits usually refer to their cage as their bathrrom. When you let them out at first they will poop and pee wherever unfortuantely, but as they mature they begin to realize that they're cage is their territory, and tahts where they go.

Also, you can feed rabbits fruits and vegetables such as apples ( tehy love these ) , lettuce, carrots, corn, BUT STAY AWAY FORM ANYTHING THAT IS CITRUS IT ISN'T GOD FOR THEM. ONIONS ARE ALSO POISONOUS !

Oh yeah one more thing, for their water, you should definitely *** rabbit vitamins. I use LM animal farms multi liquid vitamin for rabbits

No wood shavings! My sister put wood shavings in her Bunny's cage and he got a cut on the bottom of his foot. Try to stay away from that even if it is cheaper. Make sure he or she is comfortable. Definitely some pillowy bedding, nice and soft. If you wanna go an extra mile, put newspaper under the bedding.

There are also special little balls that can be put in the litter box. I think they're absorbing balls. Just go to Pets-Mart or something. Ask one of the employees they'll know EXACTLY what you need.

They enjoy alfalfa. They like to nibble on it. Carrots, apples, lettuce, radishes, grapes, strawberries, broccoli or any other sweet fruit or veggie. Nothing bitter. Make sure its in bite size pieces. Always keep alfalfa in his cage. There is also a special type of rabbit food. You can give him a little fruit or veggie, a little rabbit food, and always keep a little alfalfa in his cage. Variety.

Remember a little water dispenser thing. Always keep plenty of water for it. They like to keep hydrated.

Finally, make sure its completly comfortable for it, and he feels at home. I know you already have a cage, but make sure its roomy. Not huge, but just enough were he can move a around a bit. The basics are, cage, bedding, litter box, food, water dispenser. And your set.

Talk to the vet, petstore employees, and other knowledgable people you know to help you out with getting him or her situated. Good luck, and i hope you have fun with your new pet! =]
All you need is fresh veg's and make sure you give them as much freedom as possible and they will love you. Plus it's fun catching them. Nothing is better than raw food no matter if you are animal or human. In my opinion they feed them selves.
I got a huge hay stack for mine. I use that for the bedding.
Rabbit food and wood shavings.
A book.
saw dust and carrots prettty much
Bunnies like Timothy Hay as a snack. You should just get small animal bedding from the pet store. Don't use cedar bedding, it makes them sick. Pet stores have rabbit pellets for food. You should use a bowl for the water instead of that bottle thing. They prefer that. You can give them anything for a toy as long as it won't poison them. Toilet and paper towel rolls, wooden blocks, and cardboard boxes with holes in them are fun for a rabbit to play with. Have a variety of toys on hand because you wouldn't want to play with the same toy every day either. If your rabbit finds something that it likes to play with in your house, and you don't mind, then let it play away. It will have lots of fun. You can train your rabbit to use the litter box if you don't want to clean the whole cage every week. If you do want to litter box train it, wait until its a year old and then look it up on google to see how to do it. You should put a layer of newspaper on the bottom that uses soy-based ink (most newspapers do but it never hurts to check). After that, use either an odor-reducing bedding, shredded paper, hay, or any super absorbent bedding(like CareFresh). Don't use cat litter because a rabbit will eat the stuff and get sick. Never reach into your bunny's cage to take it out or pick it up and put it in its cage. The cage, to your bunny, is HIS (or her) property. If you go around sticking your arms in there, it will probably get insecure. Put a playpen-like thing around the cage so that it can walk around freely and if it gets out, it'll still be trapped in the pen. Also, when you're putting your bunny back in the pen, coral it and herd or bribe it in the cage with veggie so that it won't feel that you are invading or anything. Good luck with your new pet!
