Who is winning now a days: the rabbit or the turtle?

I鈥檓 sure you know the story about the race between the rabbit and the turtle, where the cocky rabbit took a nap after confirming he was well ahead and woke up only to see the diligent turtle cross the finish line first and win the race.Who is winning now a days: the rabbit or the turtle?
if the rabbit learnt from his mistake and challenged the turtle again... who would you put your money on ?


if the turtle learnt to ride a Harley...?


if the rabbit took flying lessons...


if the turtle strapped a rocket to it's shell...


the moral of that story is to keep your head down and plod on, in the end you'll be the winner. rubbish! this only works if you're racing some cloth eared thicko. what if they had thought the race through first eh ?Who is winning now a days: the rabbit or the turtle?
What happened to the hare and the tortoise? Are they extinct?
Now a days. I'd say the rabbit. Peoples lives are moving too fast. In the olden days people were more layed back.

Unfortunately, nowadays every thing gets reduced to a zero-sum game. In today's world the rabbit will be seen to be winning.

I wud say the turtle is winning. Who lives for 200 to 300 years? The turtle ofcourse. Ever heard of turtle stew?!! or turtle soup??!!! ( Rabbit soup and stew are tasty )





Also, rabbits are used for testing in pharmaceutical labs and many are killed in the process. Turtles are protected every where u go. Sum r even world famous.
One who burns the candle at both ends will run out of wax. In other words, most people are living their lives like the rabbit-- in a hurry. And this is why so many people are burning out at a young age(heart attacks, cancer, depression). There is only so much wax we can burn in a lifetime, and if we burn it all too quickly, we run out of life.
Tortoise and the hare, actually. ;)





And I still say the tortoise is winning! No matter how much the hare does his speed, he still falls victim to getting beaten by the tortoise.
Both... trying for a win-win situation !

It's not about winning or losing it's how you play the game. If you enjoyed playing the game, you win no matter what.

The story you refer to is a fable. It has a moral but not necessarily based on fact! If I have to place a bet, I will win more often than loose, if I bet the rabbit. On the other hand it depends on which rabbit and which tortoise! If I bet my house, I will hedge my bet. In today's world, someone might just shoot the rabbit half way into the race.
Due to the fact that you posted this question on Philosophy Section, my answer might be a bit philosphical.





There are two point of views for your question:


1) The slow and the fast. In the story, the slow wins.


2) The lazy and the dilligent. In the story, the dilligent wins.





Today,


1) The fast might win. Say, there is this 14-year-old boy who falls in love with this very nice girl. He does not have the gut to tell her, unfortunately. He waits till they are 18. However, the next day, he saw, using both of his eyes, that there is another boy who has told her his feeling. So, the fastest wins right?





This can also be applied in business.





2) The dilligent might win. This is rather self-explanatory. Success is 1% talent and 99% hardwork, isn't it?
there is an underlying misconception about the turtle . it is considered in many circles, squares and fast lanes, that there is a new, hybrid turtle running rampant amongst the young women of the country. as it turns out this turtle, being geneticly male, while appearing slow and docile is actually looking above his spectacles and surveying well into the distance of the oncoming prey , and winning almost every time.
